SONS OF ALLEN MINISTRY

            The Sons of Allen Ministry, the official Men’s Ministry of the African Methodist Episcopal Church fosters an atmosphere where men are inspired through worship, study and prayer to have fellowship and relationship with God and their fellowmen. The Sons of Allen builds men as providers, protectors, producers, and priests for their families and the community of the faithful.

WOMEN’S MISSIONARY SOCIETY (WMS)

            The Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) is an organization of women called to discipleship to grow in knowledge and experience of God through Jesus Christ. They are committed to support the mission of the church, challenged to help one another engage in ministry and action, and grow and respond in faith to God’s redemptive plan for the church.

            In addition, the WMS supports the Young People’s Department of the church. Its mission is to engage the youth of the church in Christian activities and spiritual guidance.

Young Peoples Department (YPD)

            The Young Peoples Department serves under the auspices of the Women’s Missionary Society. It seeks to enhance the spiritual development of the youth of the church by providing meaningful resources, training and guidance in all areas of Christian life. It encourages full participation in the mission programs and activities of the church and is open to youth ages 2-26.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

            The Christian Education Department is committed to strengthening and maturing the people of God through collecting and distributing relevant and effective resources to aid in spiritual growth. The department encourages bible reading and study)

            Four programs fall under the auspices of the Christian Education Department: Bible Discovery Hour, Enrichment Through The Word, Scholar Recognition, and Summer Bible Fun programs.

            Bible Discovery Hour- Traditionally known as church school or Sunday school, it is help on Sunday mornings from 8:45-9:45 am. During this time, we use study resources to guide us into a better understanding of God’s Holy Writ.

            Enrichment Through The Word – Traditionally known as Bible study, we delve into scripture to gain deeper insights and a new understanding. This program occurs on Wednesdays beginning at 7 pm.

            Scholar Recognition– This program recognizes and promotes academic scholarship in K-12 Education and for participation in the church Christian Education events.

            Summer Bible Fun- Summer Bible Fun is a program designed to introduce participants to biblical instruction in a fun and innovative manner.

            Richard Allen Young Adult Council (RAYAC)- The Richard Allen Young Adult Council is a group for young adults between the ages of 26-39. The goal of the RAYAC is to retain young adults to the Lord, the church, and to lead young adults to use their gifts and talents in the service of the Lord.

OUTREACH MINISTRIES

            The Outreach Ministry fosters greater love and appreciation for those who find themselves in difficult life situations. Members show humility and compassion for those who may not be members of our church by providing spiritual guidance and prayer, in addition to offering food, toiletries, and blankets.

            Five ministries fall under the Outreach ministry. They are: The Angel Tree Prison Ministry, the Clothing Ministry, the Evangelism Ministry, Feeding Ministry , and the Health Ministry.

            Angel Tree Prison Ministry-

            Clothing Ministry– The clothing ministry accepts gently used clothing and new items to distribute to needy members of our community. Clothing is distributed through the evangelism and feeding ministries.

            Evangelism Ministry– The Evangelism Ministry travels into downtown Jacksonville where those desiring housing gather and disburse nonperishable food items, clothes and toiletries. In addition, we pray the prayer of salvation and provide spiritual guidance to those who seek out God for His direction in their life.

            Feeding Ministry– The feeding ministry provides a hot meal at the church once a month. Participants come for a brief devotional period followed by a nutritious meal. The community is encouraged to attend for a rich dining experience and spiritual enrichment.

            The Health Ministry– The Health Ministry support the church by sponsoring health fairs and distributes valuable information concerning critical health issues. In addition, the ministry sponsors healthy eating classes, walk-a-thons and exercise classes to encourage members to develop proper eating and exercise habits.
